My role

As a UI/UX Designer, my role focuses on creating a user centered, seamless experience for individuals who experience excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

I started by conducting user research and competitor analysis to understand their specific pain points, which guided the development of an intuitive user journey for both one time purchases and subscription models. I designed high fidelity wireframes and prototypes that highlighted Duradry's results approach, which is an FDA approved product with fast and visible results. My design process emphasized simplicity and clarity, especially in presenting the step by step usage system and product benefits.

Process

The design process for this project was divided into four key phases to ensure a user centered and results experience: 1. Discovery In this phase, I conducted competitor analysis to understand how similar brands address excessive sweating. I also identified key user pain points and defined the target audience to ensure the product aligns with their needs and expectations. 2. Ideation Based on insights from the discovery phase, 1 mapped out the user journey to visualize the complete experience from discovering the product to completing a purchase and starting treatment. 3. Design Process This step involved creating wireframes and high fidelity UI designs. I focused on simplicity, trust, and clarity to communicate Duradry's clinical effectiveness and easy 3 step system. The design emphasized responsive layout, product education, and a smooth conversion flow for both one time and subscription purchases. 4. Usability Testing To validate the design direction, I prepared task based scenarios aimed at evaluating user comprehension, ease of navigation, and the overall purchase experience. These tasks served as the basis for future usability tests and refinements.

Discovery

Discover and Understanding

This phase aimed to uncover key insights that would shape the direction of the product experience. It included analyzing direct competitors in the U.S. market, identifying user pain points, and understanding the target audience. By exploring what users currently experience and expect from sweat control products, I could identify design opportunities that Duradry can uniquely solve.

Competitor Analysis

To better understand the market landscape, I analyzed several U.S. based products that address excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. The goal was to identify their type, weaknesses, and how they position themselves in terms of results, ease of use, and trust factors like FDA approval.

Ideation

User Journey

In this step, I created a detailed User Journey to visualize the typical experience of a user interacting with Duradry's product for managing excessive sweating. The user journey helps identify key moments where the user's needs, feelings, and challenges arise, and highlights opportunities to improve the overall experience.

Design system

The design process involved a structured approach to create an intuitive and effective user experience for Duradry's product. Starting from wireframing, I focused on ensuring the interface is simple, clean, and user-friendly, reflecting the easy 3-step usage of the product. Iterative feedback loops were incorporated to refine the design, making sure all user needs and pain points identified during discovery were addressed. The final design balances aesthetics and functionality, prioritizing clarity and ease of use to support users in their journey toward managing excessive sweating confidently.

Design System To maintain consistency and scalability throughout the product, a comprehensive design system was developed. This system includes a defined color palette inspired by freshness and cleanliness, typography that ensures readability and accessibility, reusable UI components such as buttons, and a grid system for layout design. The design system not only streamlines the development process but also ensures a cohesive visual identity across all touchpoints, enhancing the overall user experience and brand recognition.

Usability testing

To evaluate the effectiveness and usability of Duradry, I conducted usability testing sessions by setting up realistic scenarios with task based activities. The main objective of the testing was to understand how users interact with the application, identify pain points, and validate whether the designed features are truly aligned with the needs and expectations of users. Participants were given the following scenario to complete: 1. You are now on the homepage and want to see the main products that Duradry offers. What are you doing right now? 2. Now you want to find out information about the types of products available and what their benefits are. How do you do that? 3. You also want to know how to use Duradry products. How do you find out? 4. After understanding the product thoroughly, you are still unsure and want to see reviews from other people. What did you do? 5. You are interested in buying it, but you are not sure if you can get free shipping or not, so you want to find out this information. How do you do that?

Reflection

If I had additional time, I would: 1. UT will be conducted with specific scenarios and tasks to test information flow, visuals, and clarity of CTAs. Feedback from users will be used for design iteration. 2. If direct UT is not possible, a survey with design screenshots will be created to get initial insight from the target audience. 3. Design evaluation by other designers based on usability principles (such as minimalism, consistency, and ease of navigation).
